A Tale of Two Towers

The Dead End Tower Jump That Never Happened

Editor's Note: This is a true story.  The names have been changed to protect the innocent/insane.

We were driving by and BOB said to me, "Dude I can jump those towers!"
I looked over to see the giant 40 foot water towers and said, "Yeah right--are you crazy?"
Well, he insisted that we pull over and check 'em out. So we hopped the fence to get a closer look. Actually the gap wasn't to terrible--probably even make able, but at that height even the slightest miscalculation would be fatal!
He still insisted he could do it... So, we positioned camera men in several locations. Bob and Hank climbed to the top of the towers for the daredevil view. They were up there for quite some time.
After about ten minutes they started climbing back down saying how hairy the sh*t was up there.
"If it was a little flatter up there I could make it, but the launch tower is rounded on the edges, and the landing tower slightly peaks up to a point in the middle," said Bob with wide eyes."
Well, thankfully no one died on that day. But I'm sure those towers will continue to tease and dare would- be skate daredevils of the Portland area.
Like the sign in the picture says, "Dead End" I think that is a warning to the wise who take a closer look at this death trap!
