Victoria, British Columbia

A little vacation/road trip brought us to Victoria, BC. Of course the first stop had to be the world renowned Butchart Gardens. The weather was great, not a cloud in the sky. The gardens are amazing. This is a must see if you ever visit Victoria.

Another stop on our list was Hartley Castle at Royal Roads University. The university used to be a Military College until closing in '95 after 55 years of training Canadian Army officers. It's now a public university. Hatley Castle was built in 1906 and is now the administration building for Royal Roads University.

Not far from Royal Roads University is Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse. The fort was built in 1878 with battery emplacements being adding through 1900. All the buildings are extremely well preserved. Fisgard Lighthouse was built in 1860. It was the first lighthouse on Canada's west coast. Unfortunately I wasn't able to spend much time at the park but I think I could have easily spent the day there. There's a lot to see.
